Entertainment Industry Foundation and Major League Baseball Join the Cause
September 15, 2009 - Washington, D.C. - Veterans and Military Families for Progress commends First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, as well as the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Major League Baseball for their innovative efforts to encourage support of military families by the American public.
"Their message, calling for support of those serving and their families, is right in line with VMFP's mission," said Matt Cary, president of the national non-profit membership organization which is committed to ensuring that the rights and needs of veterans, active-duty service members and their families are understood by the American public, endorsed by our elected officials, and protected by legislation, regulation, and public policy initiatives.
"It is good to see more attention brought to this very important issue by such powerful and influential women as the First Lady and Dr. Biden." Cary noted. "And leveraging the attention-getting capabilities of the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Major League Baseball is a coup for all veterans, those serving, and military families everywhere!"
"VMFP is holding their national biennial conference Sept. 25-27 in Arlington, and the timing of this PSA is just perfect!" Maura Satchell, Chair of the 2009 conference and mother of two Iraq War veterans said. "I know it will be a highlight of the weekend when we air their public service announcement!"
The weekend conference will feature a hospitality event Friday night, informative panels and general sessions with high-profile speakers throughout the weekend, and a recognition awards banquet Saturday night.
